Prince William was ‘very emotional’ as he ‘brought back memories’ from Princess Diana’s funeral

Prince William was very impressed by the number of people who came to Westminster Hall to pay their respects and celebrate Queen Elizabeth Life and Achievements II.

The Queen was not expecting the turnout

Prince William of Wales stated that “you would never have believed all this, and it seemed to unite and bring everyone together”,

He also commented on the Telegraph that people waiting in line started new friendships that could last a lifetime.

It meant a lot

“Being here means a lot, it really is,” he commented. “You are doing a great job.”

Earlier in the week, an attendee approached him and admitted he had “brought back memories” of him when he was next to Princess Diana’s coffin at her funeral in 1997.

It was so hard not to cry

He also explained and admitted that it was “very difficult while asking the audience not to cry ‘Don’t cry now, you’ll start me'”.

William recently tweeted, “On Thursday, the world lost an extraordinary leader, whose commitment to the nation, the realms and the Commonwealth was absolute. Much will be said in the coming days about the meaning of her historic rule,”

“However, I lost my grandmother. While I will mourn her loss, I am also incredibly grateful. I have benefited from the wisdom and reassurance of the Queen in my fifties.”

William talks about the Queen in his happy moments

As William explained, “She was by my side in my happiest moment. And she was by my side during the saddest days of my life. I knew this day would come, but it would be some time before real life without Grannie would really feel real.”
